Saturn Moon Conjunction
This goes back to the mythological story connected with Saturn. As per the folklore, Sandhya, the wife of God Sun, left him due to his extreme heat (ego and anger). She left her replacement (lookalike/ pratibimb) Chhaya, behind. God Sun couldn’t figure out earlier that it was not really his wife. Saturn was thus born out of union of Sun and Chhaya. Eventually, when God Sun realized that it wasn’t his wife Sandhya but a replica, he went in search of Sandhya. He pleaded to her father Lord Vishwakarma; The Universal Architect, who agreed to send her back after cutting few of his rays (his ego). So sun could meet Sandhya only when his heat was low (at twilight and dusk time)

Saturn, therefore, who was his step son, born out of Chhaya, was always given a step treatment.
We always give out what we have inside of us. Saturn never received the warmth of love and care from his parents and siblings. That’s what he gives out too, cold and harsh treatment.
This Conjunction is also known as the Vish Yog (Poison Conjunction)
This is because it poisons the mind. There are negative thoughts in the mind, with or without the actual outside circumstances to validate these thoughts. Also, Saturn is fear. So the mind is always fearful.
Saturn represents everything we do not like in our lives. It represents delays, hard work and perseverance. It represents diseases, miseries, obstacles and consequent hard work. It represents cold and harsh treatment, thrashing of the ego. Nothing happens smoothly in the area of the birth chart where Saturn is placed. We need to go over and over in that area of life, repetitive efforts are needed.
We are expected to be responsible, dutiful and achieve expertise in that area of life. After a long period of intense hard work and grind, when we finally achieve the results, they are there to stay. That is why it is said that "Saturn delays, it never denies.”
Now what is Moon?
Moon is our mind, impressionable and subject to every outside influence. Moon also represents our emotions, and just like the phases of the moon, waxing and waning, our emotions keep varying, sometimes we are sad, sometimes elated, sometimes enraged, at other times disheartened and disappointed. The stronger the moon, the more control we have on ourselves, able to resist the external influences and keeping an internal regulation over our mind and our emotional state.
The weaker the moon; the easier, longer and stronger is the effect of the external impressions.
Moon also represents our Mother. The kind of love we receive from our mother or mother-like figures in our life.
Now it is easy to understand what happens when the two are conjunct together.
Saturn squeezes all the water out of the Moon, making it dry, cold and dark.
This may mean that the native with this conjunction may have a mother who is very strict, harsh and an authoritarian. She puts too much emphasis on discipline. The motherly love here is not unconditional, it is subject to “good grades” and “good behaviour” and standing high on the pedestal that the mother has decided. The mother is more in a duty bound relationship towards the child than in a role of a loving, caressing and caring mother. Consequently, the child might become an over achiever. Trying to impress the mother, to gain her love, the child may become too harsh on himself, over critical of the self, desiring perfection out of every task. The child may feel starved of the motherly nourishment, despite the mother being physically there. This creates a mother-wound in the child.
There’s a constant inner critic in this child, finding flaws in everything he does. They are too harsh on themselves. With this inherent lack, it becomes difficult for this child to develop good self esteem and have a high self worth, especially in early ages.
Such a child may feel that that I am not worthy of the good things in life. They may become over givers, over compensate, overdo to become worthy of the love in relationships. Now they may not receive as much as they are giving, so it leads them to feel that they are being “used”, especially in their early relationships. They end up forgiving the faults of others, never actually receiving an apology, because they are too quick to find faults within themselves. This is because Saturn is our weakness. When with moon, the mind is constantly aware of one’s inner lack of perfection. They even attract such relationships and partners in their lives who can take up the role of the “critical” mother when they grow up. When everything is hunky dory and happy go lucky in relationships, with no seriousness and responsibility factor involved, they find it uncomfortable.
Moon is also water, flowing without resistance. When it is with Saturn, it becomes stiff, it freezes, and the flowing nature becomes difficult. What this really means is that it becomes difficult for this person, to become adaptable. There’s resistance, to new places, new people and new situations. Saturn also shows our inherent vulnerabilities and fears. So, there is a fear of change, of unknown places and things. The “What if this happens” factor overwhelms the mind.
As Saturn matures after mid 30s, the child, now an adult, gradually becomes better, more self-reliant. It becomes necessary for this person to find ways to love himself than to look for external sources of love and validation. As he learns this, life starts getting better, external dependence becoming lesser. This is therefore, a highly spiritually uplifting combination if used well. They have immense self control, self discipline, strong work ethics and a hell lot of will power and determination to achieve anything they set their heart on.
It really helps if this person can get into professions that needs him to nurture and care for others and embrace motherhood, giving to someone, what he didn’t get, and that helps him to fill the wound.
As the Sufi poet Rumi has said, “The wound is the place where the light enters you”.
On the brighter side, (Considering what your definition of bright is J )
The person with a moon Saturn conjunction can learn and practice meditation easily. Meditation means being in a state of no mind, when one can move beyond the processes of thoughts and the mind and the body becomes still.
Saturn is limitation and moon is mind.
This conjunction helps in putting a limit to the ever fidgety mind, and gives the individual an ability to achieve the stillness of mind and go deep into a state of meditation. These individuals can also concentrate well while studying.
Moon also represents the society, the societal activities.
Now, contrary to the popular opinion, when the moon is malefic, either by conjunction or by aspect of strong malefic planet or weak by sign, the mind is no longer interested in the society, with all its ambitions, lust, power games and never ending desires.
Such a tired mind may get attracted towards meditation. Moon Saturn or moon Ketu can also induce depressive thoughts which then may lead the person to realize the futility of the material nature of life. On the contrary, an unafflicted and well positioned moon increases the desire quotient and binds the native more to the society, in an attempt to fulfil the egotistical desires.
What is noteworthy here, is that Moon is the natural karaka of the 4th house (home life) and Saturn, the natural karaka of the 8th house (transformative life events and occult) and 12th house (spiritual elevation and enlightenment). Here, the 3 Moksha houses are getting together. This person may face trials and tribulations in home life which give him a gradual renunciation from home life and lead him towards being more spiritual. That is why this is also known as the Sanyas Yoga.
What can we do about it
The best way to deal with this conjunction is to strengthen the mind. We can strengthen the moon by going inwards, giving lesser importance to the external opinions and validation, spending time alone, contemplating and understanding one’s own self without getting influenced by others.
Also, because Moon is said to be the weakest in Scorpio, in its debilitated state, we may assume that strengthening Mars can uplift the weak moon. Mars is a soldier; it is all about actions and physical work. Physical strengthening exercises, like martial arts and yoga and mental strengthening exercises like meditation and concentrating at any job at hand can help.
When this placement is in other signs, strengthening the house lord makes the situation better.
Moon is also water, spending time watering plants, conserving water and drinking more water should help strengthening the moon. Because Saturn is cold and dry, logically speaking, consuming warm water should help.
Since Moon represents liquid money, rice, milk, water, and Saturn represents old and needy, physically and mentally dependent people, people with long chronic painful diseases, daily wage workers, menial labourers , housekeeping staff, doing charity to help these people might help in strengthening the moon. Moon is also caring and nurturing, helping these people in any way would help in keeping the mind calm.
As mentioned above, Moon is our mother. Saturn is the planet of Karma. Being with moon, it might indicate that we have some pending karmas towards our mother in this lifetime. Trying to improve our relationship with our mother, avoiding the conflicts and being respectful in expressing our opinions, even if we disagree with her, can help in strengthening the moon.
Saturn is the karaka of laziness and Moon, the karaka of mind. It can give a tendency to a lethargic mind that causes procrastination. It is important for this person to maintain a to-do list and stick to the timelines. This will help one to achieve the higher significations of Saturn that is discipline, and will give strength to the mind as well.
Conclusion
Whether this conjunction leads the native into dungeons of deep depression or take him to the heights of spiritual elevation depends a lot on the Gunas being used and how evolved the soul is. A lot also depends on the nakshatra placement of Saturn, the nakshatra lord and its placement and the strength of the dispositor. Jupiter’s strength/9th lord may show if the native will get the support of teachers/enlightened sages/material resources/good education etc.
Moon is Mental Fickleness (waxing/waning), when with the disciplinarian Saturn; it brings a realistic flavour to the mind. The mind becomes very practical. If used properly, this conjunction can make one come out wiser and more resilient.
Hope we all are able to figure out our karmas and do what we were sent here for.
God Bless Everyone J
