Karmic Connection Series - John Lennon & Mark David Chapman

Today, we would look at charts of

Mark David Chapman

So, let’s begin –

Birth Details – Following are their birth details available online –

John Lennon was born on 9^th Oct, 1940 at 18.30 pm at Liverpool, England.

Mark David Chapman was born on 10^th May, 1955 at 19.30 pm at Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

So, 2 individuals born 15 years apart and 4600 miles away from each other had strong karma towards each other. This is what fascinates me about looking into karmic connections between two souls that in normal circumstances, we can’t even think that these 2 individuals would have to do anything with each other but they ended-up in being a part of a dreadful event in history.

Chart Introduction – Following are their chart details –

John Lennon was a Pisces ascendant with Ketu in 1^st house/Pisces, Jupiter-Saturn in 2^nd house/Aries, Venus in 6^th house/Leo, Sun-Mars-Rahu in 7^th house/Virgo, Mercury in 8^th house/Libra and Moon in 11^th house/Capricorn.

Mark David Chapman is a Scorpio ascendant, Rahu-Moon in 2^nd house/Sagittarius, Venus in 5^th house/Pisces, Sun in 6^th house/Aries, Mars-Mercury in 7^th house/Taurus, Ketu in 8^th house/Gemini, Jupiter in 9^th house/Cancer and Saturn in 12^th house/Libra.

It is interesting to see that if we consider dignity of planets then Mark David Chapman has far better chart than John Lennon. Chapman has 4 exalted planets but still ended-up in prison for life for killing John Lennon. It was largely due to his trashed Moon position which was impacted by all malefic planets. Association – Now, if someone doesn’t know about these two individuals then here is a small introduction. John Lennon was and remains one of the most influential figures in music world in 20^th Century. He was Pioneer and face of The Beatles group. Their popularity in 1960s  & 1970s was beyond any imaginable limits and it continues to remain till today. Mark David Chapman, on the other hand, was a lost individual. 

In an interview given after killing of John Lennon

he accepted that he was a “nobody” and he wanted to be “somebody”. So, he decided to become a “somebody” by killing the biggest somebody of his time. In this crazy journey of his, a book named “Catcher in the Rye” became his accomplice. He was obsessed with the book and the main character of the book named Holden Caulfield. Chapman felt so much connected by this character that he started believing that he is Holden Caulfield. It may sound scary but Chapman followed all the activities of Holden Caulfield in the book on the day of killing John.

On 8^th Dec, 1980, Chapman reached John’s residence and waited for him to come out. In evening, John Lennon came out and gave autograph to many people. Mark was the last person who asked for autograph. After giving autograph, John asked him – Is that all? You want something else? In the same interview later, Chapman said that he felt that John was aware that he (Mark) is going to kill him (John) because there was no need for John to say that. Mark said – “John was an international star, he is going for his recording, his wife is waiting in Car and he was talking to a nobody like me and asking what more he can do for me”? This is where this picture was taken by a Photographer there where John is giving autograph to his killer Mark Chapman.

In night, John came back to home and Mark was still standing there. Mark shot him from behind, as John passed-by, and after that he didn’t know what he should do? His pistol was snatched and thrown away by a security guard there. Mark sat in corner and started reading “Catcher in the Rye” till the Police reached there.

So, if we see, their actual physical association was only for a few hours but, for all the wrong reasons, Chapman’s will always be linked with John Lennon.

Pressing Points - Here are common points in both charts –

John Lennon had Ketu in Pisces/Revati and Mark has Venus in Pisces/Revati.

Then John had ascendant lord Jupiter with Saturn in Aries/Bharani. As ascendant lord was with debilitated Saturn, it could be one of the reasons behind his short life. More importantly, Mark had Sun in Aries/Bharani falling over John’s Saturn-Jupiter. We all know how much Sun-Saturn love each other and both of them coming in same nakshatra was difficult for both individuals. For John, this super-imposition of Mark’s Sun over his Saturn-Jupiter was happening in 2^nd house/Aries, one of his Maraka/Killer houses. For Mark, this super-imposition of John’s Saturn-Jupiter over his Sun was happening in 6^th house/Aries of legal matters. So, it brought death to John and legal issues to Mark.

Not to forget that Bharani itself is nakshatra of death and re-birth as its deity is Lord Yama. As Yama is God of Death, this nakshatra can bring sudden/chaotic events and death & re-birth type of scenario.

Then another planetary placement which can be reason behind John’s short life was Sun conjunct Rahu-Mars in 7^th house/Virgo, which is another maraka house in his chart. Sun with Rahu shows that he born during eclipse month and close to Lunar Eclipse.

Now, 2^nd house and 7^th house are Maraka houses. For John, 2^nd house/Aries is ruled by Mars. Mars is in 7^th house/Virgo, connecting both maraka houses together. Mercury rules over 7^th house/Virgo. It means Mercury rules over both the maraka houses because it rules over Mars too. Now, Mercury is in 8^th house/Libra of sudden events, showing death can happen suddenly.

Most importantly, Mark has Saturn in Libra which fell over John’s Mercury in 8^th house/Libra. As Saturn is limitation and 8^th house is longevity, it brought limitations to John’s longevity.  

Mahadashas – Now, the important thing is dashas they both were going through on 8^th Dec, 1980 –

John Lennon – John was under Jupiter-Mercury-Sun dasha. Jupiter is in 2^nd house/Aries with Saturn. Mercury rules over 7^th house/Virgo and sits in 8^th house. Sun sits with Rahu-Mars in 7^th house/Virgo. We have discussed already how 2^nd house/7^th house/8^th house and planets there were contributing towards possible sudden loss of John’s life.

Mark David Chapman – Mark was under Sun-Mercury-Saturn dasha. Sun is in 6^th house/Aries of legal issues, Mercury (8^th house lord) is with Mars in 7^th house/Taurus (a maraka house) and Saturn is in 12^th house/Libra of Prisons.

Common theme for both was Mercury AD. In John’s chart, Mercury is 7^th house lord in 8^th house. In Mark’s chart, Mercury is 8^th house lord in 7^th house. This shows possibility of a sudden event causing death or death-like circumstances. We may feel that actual death happened to John but if we see it logically then even Mark Chapman met with his social death that day, as almost no one wants to remain associated with him after 8^th Dec, 1980. I said “almost no one” because his wife continued their marriage even after this event and is still continuing. But apart from her, Chapman is socially dead for last 40 years.

Annual Transits – In transits on 8^th Dec, 1980, there were couple of important transits happening which were indicating trouble for John Lennon. These were –

Saturn-Jupiter transiting his 7^th house/Virgo over his birth chart Sun-Rahu-Mars, getting further aspect of Ketu from 11^th house/Capricorn. It is too much of malefic energy coming together in a maraka house indicating a malefic event.

Maraka lord Mercury in enemy sign of Scorpio, a sign of death and re-birth.

Another Maraka lord Mars was in good dignity in 10^th house/Sagittarius but it was within Paap Kartari Yoga between Sun in 9^th house/Scorpio and Ketu in 11^th house/Capricorn.

Conclusion – So, we can see that there was some big karmic connection between these two individuals. John Lennon will always be remembered for his contributions in the music world. On the other hand, Mark would consider his life as wasted opportunity due to a momentary madness.
