CS - Bharani-Swati-Vishakha

This is next article in Counterparts Series for Nakshatras. If it is happening consistently for all Zodiac Signs then the same can be happening for Nakshatras too; i.e. Nakshatras in front of each other can also complete/supplement each other and can provide some guidance, direction or indication to us to deal with their energy in more creative ways.

So, let’s understand the next set of Nakshatras which are in front of each other; i.e. Bharani, Swati and Vishakha.

Bharani – Bharani Nakshatra is from 13.20 degree to 26.40 degree in Aries. Bharani is nakshatra of death and re-birth, occult/hidden side of life and instabilities. This nakshatra is also connected with sexuality and attraction. As it is ruled by Venus, the significance of wealth, finance and creativity naturally comes to this nakshatra. Swati – Swati Nakshatra is from 6.40 degree to 20 degree in Libra. So, Swati Nakshatra is in front of Bharani from 13.20 degree to 20.00 degree of Libra. Vishakha – Vishakha Nakshatra is from 20.00 degree of Libra to 3.20 degree of Scorpio. So, Vishakha Nakshatra is in front of Bharani from 20.00 degree to 26.40 degree of Libra. Vishakha is nakshatra of counselors and guides. It is also nakshatra of split or partition or different direction. Although mythological stories always play an important role in interpretation of Nakshatras, but these three nakshatras don’t carry any specific mythological stories. There are few mythological references and representations which we have to utilize to interpret them together.  

Bharani Nakshatra – As we know that Bharani is nakshatra of major transformations in life. Bharani literally means Bearing/Conceiving. As we know that conceiving a child can be a major transformative period for a Woman. Likewise, Bharani’s deity is also Lord Yama who is God of Death and Rebirth. We go through many changes during our lifetime but Death at one place and Re-birth at another place can be the biggest change we may go through.

Now, while facing any change or major transformation, we feel fear of unknown, anxiety and desire to control the change as human mind doesn’t want to go through any change and wants to live a stable and smooth sailing life. Hence, mind tries to resist the change as much as possible.

So, we can see the challenges Bharani Nakshatra can bring in life in matters of changes, major transformations, desire to resist those changes and fear/insecurity involved while dealing with those changes.

Again, the guidance to deal with this fear/insecurity is coming from Nakshatras in front of Bharani; i.e. Swati and Vishakha.

Swati – As we discussed before, Swati is nakshatra of independence or freedom. Independence or Freedom is intrinsically the result of security and confidence a person has on him. We can also say Swati Nakshatra shows our trust on existence that it will take care of us in any situation. It can be more so as the next nakshatra is Vishakha Nakshatra which is the nakshatra of trust and devotion. So, guidance from Swati is to trust the Universe or Existence which is bringing this change in your life and be receptive towards it. This feeling itself can be liberating and freedom-giving to us. Buddha says, “Whatever we resist, it persists”. So, resisting the change is never a solution. If we are receptive towards what is scaring us then fear automatically goes away and it brings freedom or independence from that fear or anxiety of change coming from Bharani Nakshatra.

Vishakha – Then comes the Vishakha Nakshatra. Vishakha Nakshatra literally represents split or separate directions/paths for an individual. If we pay attention then we can realize every major change in our life brings two separate paths to follow; which are usually in opposite or split direction. So, Vishakha represents those split directions from which we may have to decide.

Then Vishakha’s another name is Radha. Hence, it is linked with trust and devotion which Radha and Krishna had towards each other. So, this Nakshatra is also guiding us to trust the change brought by Universe and pursue it with devotion. Now, as Vishakha is represented by split direction, a question can come up as to which direction or path we should choose?

Again, the guidance is coming from the word Radha which is opposite of word Dhara. Dhara means Stream. Radha means against the stream. So, whichever direction or path looks like unknown, rebellious or uphill task, we should choose that one.

Conclusion – So, Bharani is indicating towards major transformation and changes in life which includes fear and anxiety in dealing with them. Guidance is coming from Swati and Vishakha to trust the Universe and free yourself from any burden of responsibility. They also give the guidance to go through the change by choosing the path which is more of an uphill task as the possibility of realizing our true potential is also there only.
