This is a very infamous Yoga :)


Let us understand the why behind it.


Venus is representative of relationships, beauty, love, desire to love and to be loved, desire to unite, conjugal happiness, finance, luxuries and pleasures of life, creativity and compassion.


Mars is representative of aggression, passion, energy, action-oriented approach, fearlessness, generosity.


When both are conjunct together, it is a true blending of the Masculine and Feminine energies.


It will no longer be the “Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus scenario” because it can lead to a beautiful amalgamation of the opposite energies


When used positively, it can make the person


1. Romantically and aesthetically very creative. Beautifying themselves and their surroundings get into their nerves. Their eyes are constantly scanning the surroundings on the next possible way to beautify it.


2. Can be very charismatic and have a magnetic personality. They effortlessly attract others like flames attract moths.


3. Passionate about relationships. They don’t like to be in insipid relationships and so, they don’t shy away from taking the first step in relationships.


4. They have the ability to take actions to turn their creative ideas into passionate projects.


5. They can be very protective (Mars, soldier energy) towards their loved ones (Venus)


6. Venus is knowledge (Daitya Guru Shukracharya), when conjunct with the pragmatic Mars, these people know how to put their knowledge to practical use. They have the survival instincts. These people can love to engage in intellectual discussions.


7. Shukracharya was the only one who had the power of resurrecting the dead, he was granted the Sanjeevni Vidya by Lord Shiva. So, with Venus Mars conjunction, this person can have great healing abilities.


8. They have a strong presence, Big earrings, tattoos, elegance and finesse in style and appearance. They stand apart from the crowd, they can’t remain unnoticed.


9. Mars is movement, Venus is art, and together it can lead to art in motion. They can be very rhythmic dancers, play musical instruments, can be great painters and sculptors and can have a very emotive and expressive face.


10. Sense of taste is the karkatwa of venus. If we combine this, Venus’s creativity and mars action-oriented approach, these people can make excellent chefs. They can also be very talented at plating the food in a very visually appealing way.


11. Venus is love for life and Mars is action, together they can have a strong yearning to live life to the fullest, considering there is no other malefic influence on this conjunction


12. Since Mars is the karaka for House/Property and Venus is all about creativity and beauty, they can be excellent interior decorators. Even if not taken up as a profession, they may love to beautify their homes aesthetically.


When negatively used,


1. Passion may override in relationships. Mars is physical body and Venus is relationships, it may lure one into passions and desires.


2. The physical attraction may overpower the emotional bonding and hence, the satisfaction of the lust may be the only criteria in choosing a mate.


3. The sexual needs may become so high that the person may opt for impulsive short-term relationships.


4. Obsession may ride high with intense jealousy in relationships. There may be addiction towards sex and pornography, engagement in prostitution, risky and impulsive sexual behaviour.


5. Physical violence and autocratic behaviour in relationships.

7. It can lead to incidences of molestation during the MD/AD of the planets.


This is also known as the Gandanta Yoga. Gandanta point in astrology is the junction where the mercury ruled and ketu ruled nakshatras meet. There are 3 gandanta points

1.Revati (Pisces) – Ashwini (Aries)

2.Ashlesha (Cancer)- Magha (Leo)

3.Jyeshta (Scorpio)-Mula (Sagittarius)


As you might have noticed, they are also, the meeting point of the Water signs and the Fire signs. Let us keep the details of the Gandanta for some other article in the future. For now, let’s understand why this yoga is known as the Gandanta Yoga -

Mars is a fiery planet. Venus is a watery energy.


When they come together, the heat and fire of Mars can evaporate the water from the Venus. Or the water energy of venus can extinguish the fire of the Mars.


This conjunction is particularly difficult in Fire Signs, where Mars is very strong. So much so, that it may lead to assault in relationships.


In Earth Signs, this can be contained, though there shall be a lot of bumpy rides along the way {frequent break ups (cuts-mars) in relationships} but you will not let them throw you off. Again, Capricorn can make this difficult because Mars here is very strong, its exaltation sign.


In Water Signs, the emotions run very strong and can be expressed mostly sexually. In Pisces however, it is very much possible to redirect these passions into spiritualistic pursuits.


In Air Signs, Mars is weak and Venus is very strong, which can lead to idealism that is expected from relationships. It can however, make someone extremely skilled at wealth generation ( Venus) when the great communication skills (Air signs) are being used in Venusian industries, like beauty industries, artistic pursuits, financial counselling and businesses.


However, there is another side to this conjunction that is very frequently overlooked.


Mars is a celibate warrior that loves to be in the battle field and has no interest in seductions and enticements.


Shukracharya (Venus) had a great thirst for knowledge since childhood that led him to perform many hard penances to acquire the knowledge and favours of the Gods.


This combination, hence, can give one brahmcharya of the highest order.


Venus is both Bhautikta (Materialism) and Gyaan (Knowledge)
It all depends on how the Venus is being used.


Adhogati (going downwards), by being in party mode, fun, alcohol, food, luxuries and excessive sexuality- it can increase passion.


Udhogati (going upwards), learning new things, intellectual discussions, being creatively engaged, it can give you immense knowledge and the ability to overcome your own desires and passions.


Can We Do Anything About it- Most definitely, we can.


As explained above, the right use of Venus can make or break this conjunction.


1. Be more involved in creative pursuits and use the fire of Mars there. 


2. Submerge yourself in gaining the knowledge of whatever field interests you.


3. Keep the energy of Mars saatvik. Avoid aggression in thoughts words and deeds.


4. Taking non veg diet and drinking alcohol can increase the Tamasic energy in the body. Refrain from doing that.


5. Remain ethical and moral in all areas of life, not just in actions but in thoughts as well.
