Rahu-Ketu Transit 2016-2017.
As we have reached the time when Rahu-Ketu are supposed to make their next annual transit in January 2016, I thought about writing this Article as my opinion on this transit. Rahu is going to enter in Leo and Ketu is going to enter Aquarius this month and will stay there for next 18 months. As we know that transit of Rahu, Ketu, Saturn and Jupiter leaves long lasting impacts on our life due to their long duration of stay in one sign, it becomes important to keep an eye on their transit.
True Node Vs Mean Node – First of all, there are mainly 2 ways of calculating the transits of Rahu and Ketu. They are known as True Nodes and Mean Nodes. As per True Nodes calculations, Rahu and Ketu have already changed signs on 9th January but as per Mean Nodes they will change signs on 29th January. I am not going into debate of which one is more correct as the difference between the two is less than 1 degree. So, follow whichever fits your common sense correctly. Now, another important thing happening here is that as Rahu transits in Leo, it will be joined by Jupiter and it will get an aspect of Saturn from Scorpio. Jupiter is in Leo till August 2016 and Saturn is in Scorpio till January 2017. So almost whole of this year, Saturn, Jupiter and Rahu will be impacting sign of Leo during transit. Saturn and Rahu’s mutual impact on one sign is considered as the indication of manifestation of things related to the house where that sign falls from a particular Ascendant. It means wherever Leo (5) is in your horoscope (like for Cancer Ascendant people, Leo becomes 2nd house of family and wealth but for a Scorpio Ascendant like me, Leo becomes 10th house of Career and Public Image), you will get opportunities to manifest things related to that house. So, Cancer Ascendant people will get opportunity for increasing their family and wealth, while Scorpio Ascendant people will get to work on their Career and Fame. The results will be more profound for people who are going through Mahadasha/Antardasha of Rahu, Ketu, Jupiter or Saturn. As Saturn is the final deciding force being the judge, the results are dependent on how much hard work and effort someone is ready to put in. Saturn represents only Hard Work and Labour. No Pains, No Gains.
Another thing is that Rahu and Ketu in birth chart are our Karmic Point for which we have taken birth. Rahu and Ketu in transit denotes the Karmic Point for next 18 months time period. These are the 2 point where Sun (our Atma) will go through eclipse during next 18 months. So, our Karma is going to revolve around the 2 houses where Rahu and Ketu are transiting.

Rahu - Rahu represents illusion, foreign lands, foreign things, Drugs, Medicines, any type of intoxication, fame, wealth, success, obsession, past-life left-over karma, movies, television, online world, cheating, imagined fears, unusual things, unique things, creativity, rule breaker. Rahu also blows things out of proportions.
During transit, Rahu is basically that obsessive energy which makes us gravitate towards the things related to house where Rahu is transiting in next 18 months.
Ketu - Just like Rahu, Ketu also represents illusion as both are illusionary planets but the difference is that Ketu is also the one who removes the illusion and brings enlightenment. Besides this, Ketu represents isolation, separation, Spirituality, Mystical World, other dimension means things related to alien world, also represents Son, Dog, Intuition, research ability, curious nature, things which we have already achieved in past life and not much concerned to perform in this life but if given a chance or challenge we can easily do those things as we have mastered them in past-life, so that ability is somewhere in-built.
During transit, Ketu is basically an energy of isolation and separation, which makes us not willing to take upon things related to the house where Ketu is transiting.
We also need to keep in mind that Rahu co-rules Aquarius with Saturn and Ketu co-rules Scorpio with Mars. So, wherever they transit, they will also bring some qualities of these signs and the houses where these signs are from a particular Ascendant Sign to the house where they are transiting. Also, we need to keep in mind the 5th and 9th aspect of Rahu and Ketu bringing the same concept of obsession and isolation/curiosity to the houses which are aspected.
Now, next thing we need to see that what Rahu in Leo represents and what Ketu in Aquarius represents.
Rahu in Leo – Rahu in Leo can simply be termed as a Rock-Star, some Michael Jackson making people go crazy about him. Leo is the sign of Creativity, Performing Arts and being at Centre-Stage. Rahu represents the Spot Light over you, it is the Hero on Screen, so illusive yet we are so obsessed about him. So, basically Rahu in Leo will give an opportunity to us to be a Rock-Star or Michael Jackson in our field of work and specially in the things related to the house where Leo is falling from a particular Ascendant Sign.
Ketu in Aquarius – This is a highly Scientific and Technical placement. Ketu in Aquarius in birth chart shows a super intelligent person. Aquarius is the sign of Scientific Developments and Technical Inventions. Not to forget that last 2 times when Ketu had transit into Aquarius, two of greatest inventions happened. In 1979 Ketu had a transit into Aquarius and in 1979 only, after a tour of Xerox PARC, Steve Jobs saw the commercial potential of the Xerox Alto, which was mouse-driven and had a Graphical User Interface (GUI) (Courtesy - Wikipedia). Then in 1997, Ketu came back to Aquarius and PC and Internet became household things through Microsoft when Bill Gates pledged to fill every home with a PC. Besides this, Ketu in Aquarius is an excellent placement for Spiritual Development of people and for someone who is regularly into Meditation. In next 18 months, we can see some highly enlightened Spiritual Gurus coming to the fore to guide us towards Spiritual Advancement.
Now, the main course. Impact of Rahu and Ketu transit as per every Ascendant Sign. Also check results as per your Moon Sign as it is considered as an Alternate Ascendant, in case we are not aware of our Ascendant Sign for any reason. As Moon represents Mind, position from Moon Sign will show where person’s mind will be gravitating towards and where it will feel isolation/separation from. An event which is seen from Ascendant and Moon sign both is a guaranteed event to happen.
1. Aries Ascendant/Aries Moon Sign – For Aries people, Rahu will be transiting 5th house of Children, Education, Creativity etc and Ketu will transit from 11th house of Network Circles, Gains, Large Organisations and Elder Siblings etc.
Rahu will make them gravitate towards their Children and Children Education (if they have any), their own education. May be they will try to educate themselves in a completely new field like a Foreign Language Program. Learning Astrology is also not far away, as it is house of ancient texts. It is time when they will try to be little more creative with their hobbies like if someone is into Photography, he may even try to make a FB or Twitter page to showcase his skills and become a hero. Time to find a new love too as 5th house is also a house of Romance. Online dating is on the cards as Rahu represents online world.
At the same time, Ketu will make them feel isolated/separated from their professional friend circles. They will not think much in terms of Gains and Income. They will try to get rid of their professional group and dedicate their time to children and education. Someone working in MNC might even think of leaving job and come to a speculative business format (5th house). Professional Networking is not the way they want to go for next 18 months. Some physical or mental isolation will take place from elder siblings (if they have any).
2. Taurus Ascendant/Taurus Moon Sign – For Taurus people, Rahu will be transiting 4th house of Home, Home Land, Land, Mother and Peace of Mind etc and Ketu will be transiting from 10th house of Career, Jobs, Father and Outside World etc.
Rahu will make them gravitate towards their home. A great chance of buying a home or shifting to a new property. People will be more home-centric. Mother will be the focus of life for next 18 months or so. They will look for more peace of mind then money. Surely, a great time for buying a new home or land property. Also, a major event may take place in home.
At the same time, Ketu will isolate them from their work-place and job, which mean to say that they will be least bothered about what is going on with their job, what politics is going on in their work-place and what people are talking about them behind their back. They will feel so caught up with home affairs that they will be happy to let go of outer world.
3. Gemini Ascendant/Gemini Moon Sign – For Gemini people, Rahu will be transiting through 3rd house of Skills, Communication, Younger Siblings Self-Will and Self-Efforts etc and Ketu will go through 9th house of Higher Education, Religion, Philosophy, Gurus etc.
Rahu will make them feel connected with their self-efforts and self-willed actions. Their focus will be on improving their communication skills and other skills and hobbies. They will find special connection with their younger siblings (if they have any). Some important event related to younger sibling may take place. A great time to achieve out of self-efforts and self-will.
At the same time, Ketu will isolate them from 9th house of Religion, Philosophy, Gurus and Teachings of Father. Wherever Ketu is, that’s where disagreement is. These people will find disagreement in philosophies and dogmas. They will find differences of opinion with their Gurus and Father. It is time for them to leave aside God’s will (9th house) and work on Self-Will (3rd house). Time to realize that God resides within self.
4. Cancer Ascendant/Cancer Moon Sign – For Cancer people, Rahu will go through 2nd house of Family, Wealth etc and Ketu will be going through 8th house of In-Laws Assets, Occult, Secrets, Mysteries etc.
A certain addition in family is guaranteed as 2nd house indicates expansion in family. A marriage or child birth may take place during next 18 months, if person is going through correct Mahadasha/Antardasha for Marriage/Child Birth. Wealth and Huge Gains are on the way as Rahu and Jupiter (both wealth giving planets) will transit through the house of Wealth. A real good time for material gains for Cancer people is on the way.
At the same time, Ketu will transit 8th house and these people will feel natural isolation or separation from in-laws and their assets. They won’t like to much communicate with their in-laws. At the same time, they will have great interest in Occult and Mysticism as Ketu remains Karaka of Occult Studies. Ketu is also a Karaka of Surgeries and 8th house is house of Accidents, so these people need to be very careful while travelling and also what type of food they eat because Rahu (basically a malefic energy) is transiting through 2nd house of mouth and intake of food. 5. Leo Ascendant/Leo Moon Sign – For Leo people, Rahu will go through their Ascendant itself which represent Personality, Physique and Self etc while Ketu will transit through 7th house of Relationship, Masses and Other People etc.
If Leo people are going through correct Mahadashas, as I stated earlier, they are the people who will get real opportunities of being a Rock-Star or Michael Jackson of their field. Rahu and Jupiter both transiting through 1st house of Self, Personality and Physique and Saturn’s aspect on Leo shows that Spot Light will be right over their head. They will get all the attention of the world and this is the time for them to make good use of every opportunity thrown at them. At the same time, Jupiter’s transit through Ascendant shows a possibility of gaining weight, so they need to regularly work out. Overall, finally the time has come when they will focus on themselves rather than world around.
At the same time, Ketu’s transit through 7th house of relationship and other people shows that they will be least interested in making any new relationship. Any old relationship will also be in danger of break-up as the person’s whole attention will be on themselves. If married, then person may be separated from spouse for any reason like shifting places due to job and may be actually having some issues in marriage.
6. Virgo Ascendant/Virgo Moon Sign – For Virgo people, Rahu will go through 12th house of Foreign Lands, Isolation and Spiritual Places and Ketu will transit 6th house of daily routine jobs, diseases, debts etc.
A Foreign Travel is surely on the cards for Virgos if Mahadasha is also the correct one. They will incur big expenses on matters related with Jupiter like Education, Marriage, Children etc. 12th house is also a house of Hospitals and Rahu represents Drugs and Medicines. So, Virgos need to take care of their health and be cautious. For a person working in MNC, Foreign Travels are surely seen and wealth is gained through Foreign Travels.
At the same time, Ketu will be going through 6th house and these people will feel isolated from their routine jobs and same old colleagues. They will seek a change and that change will lead them towards 12th house of Foreign Lands where Rahu will be. They will stay away from acquiring any loan or it may happen that they actually pay-off a long standing loan during this time. Likewise, they may get rid of any long time ailment or diseases.
7. Libra Ascendant/Libra Moon Sign – For Libra people, Rahu will transit 11th house of Desires, Gains, Elder Siblings, Networking Circles etc and Ketu will transit through 5th house of Education, Children and Creativity etc.
Rahu transiting through 11th house of Gains, Income and Desires shows that Libra people will not only have great gains and income coming their way but it is also the time of manifestation of their desires. 11th house is seen for marriage related things too, so marriage is on the cards for these people, if person is going through correct Mahadasha/Antardasha for Marriage. A foreign element will be involved in their marriage or other gains. Suddenly they will find that their networking circle and friends have increased.
At the same time, Ketu will go through 5th house and they will feel less concerned towards Education and reading Ancient Texts. If they have kids, they will be willing to keep the kids in custody and care of their spouse or even care-giving homes and look for more gains and incomes from 11th house.
8. Scorpio Ascendant/Scorpio Moon Sign – For Scorpions, Rahu will transit 10th house of Career, Father & Fame etc while Ketu will go through 4th house of home, home land, mother etc.
Great time for Scorpions to achieve whatever they wanted to achieve in their career. Their work will bring them fame, so time to put best effort in their work. Condition of Father will find sudden uplift. Gains from Government are on the way. Really great transit for any Scorpion, results will depend on the hard-work they put in.
Ketu’s transit through 4th house suggest selling of a house property or simply moving to a new house. It also suggest someone going away from home land. This position can bring high intuitive powers and psychic abilities if person is willing to put time in meditation. Person will not be interested to stay in his home or home land. He will find peace of mind outside the home environment. Mother’s health will remain a cause of concern.
9. Sagittarius Ascendant/Sagittarius Moon Sign – For Sagittarius people, Rahu will transit 9th house of religion, philosophy, higher learning, Guru, Pilgrimages etc and Ketu will transit 3rd house of Self Efforts, Communication Skills, Younger Siblings etc.
Rahu will make these people gravitate towards Higher Learning, Religious Education, coming in contact with a Guru from Foreign Lands. Pilgrimages and Long Distance Travels are surely on the cards. They will be inclined to read religious texts and suddenly find themselves in more religious bent of mind. Ketu’s transit through 3rd house shows that they are no longer interested in talking and gossiping with their closed neighbours, cousins or younger siblings. Even if they talk, they will like to talk about 9th house related things of higher philosophies. They will be less interested in Self-Will now and will be ready to follow God’s will.
10. Capricorn Ascendant/Capricorn Moon Sign – For Capricorn people, Rahu will transit through 8th house of In-laws, Occult, Mysteries, Sudden Events and Transformations etc, while Ketu will go through 2nd house of Family, Wealth and Speech etc.
Rahu will make them gravitate towards occult studies, mysteries and secrets of universe. As it is house of Accidents, these people need to be careful. This period can be the period of biggest transformation for them and after these 18 months a new person will take birth in them. Assets with in-laws will grow substantially.
Ketu’s transit from 2nd house of Family, Wealth and Speech etc will make them feel isolated from their family. It may be that they are going away from their family for some reasons related with job. Separation from Family may be a reason for their transformation through Rahu. They need to be careful about their speech, as it should not be a curse speech as a malefic planet is going through 2nd house of speech.
11. Aquarius Ascendant/Aquarius Moon Sign - For Aquarians, Rahu is transiting 7th house of Marriage, Relations and Other People etc while Ketu transits the 1st house of self, physique and personality etc.
If person is going through correct Mahadasha/Antardasha for Marriage, then this Rahu transit through 7th house will surely make marriage happen for Aquarians. For next 18 months, these people will look and find their own identity from their other half. Marriage and Relationship are going to be focal point for these people during this transit. Career-wise also, this transit can bring sudden rise as 7th house is 10th from 10th house.
Ketu’s transit through Ascendant only confirms the Rahu’s impact given above. They will lose their self identity and they will find it from their spouse in next 18 months. It is a typical case of someone finding his sense of completion from spouse. At the same time, as Ascendant remains the house of overall health and Ketu remains a malefic planet, these people need to take care of their health through-out these 18 months.
12. Pisces Ascendant/Pisces Moon Sign – Last but certainly not the least. For Pisces people, Rahu will transit 6th house of diseases, debts, enemies, routine jobs etc and Ketu will transit where it loves to be 12th house of Spirituality, Isolated Places and Imagination etc.
Here, Rahu and Ketu are both at a place where they love to be. Rahu loves to be in 6th house and deal with obstacles and enemies, so that he can defeat them. So, these people will have a great time dealing with obstacles and enemies, office politics and will come out as winner. At the same time, it is a house of diseases and Rahu represents drugs and medicines so they should be careful about health matters. It is important for them not to take much money on Credit as 6th house is also a house of Debts.
Ketu is in 12th house, Peaceful, Serene, Meditative. Time to work towards meditation, psychic powers and even Enlightenment. There is nothing more spiritual than Ketu in 12th house.
