Venus Transit & Retrograde in Libra/Virgo in 2026.

Along with difficult transit of Mars during last quarter on 2026, Venus will also go retrograde in Libra/Virgo signs. Although there is still time for that to happen but in order to be proactive, it is better to take a look at Venus retrograde now only. 

Every year, Venus goes through a difficult phase of transits for continuous 3 months when it transits through Cancer, Leo and Virgo sign - https://www.astrosaxena.com/articles/Venus2022 . Why?

Because – 

a. Venus will be in enemy sign in Cancer from 8th June, 2026. 

b. Then Venus will be in another enemy sign in Leo from 4th July, 2026. 

c. Then Venus will be in debilitation in Virgo from 1st Aug, 2026. 

This year, this difficulty can further be increased as after Virgo, Venus will be in retrograde movement in Libra sign and go back in Virgo. Hence, I thought of writing about Venus retrograde transit now only along with transit of Venus in Cancer as it will carry the same difficult energy from Cancer to Virgo then in retrograde movement in Libra/Virgo. 

Interestingly, at the same time, Mars will be in difficult transit in Gemini/Cancer. As Mars represents masculinity and Venus represents Femininity and they both are losing dignity in 2nd half of 2026, it shows that personal relationships can be difficult during this time. 

Venus goes retrograde after every 18 months and this time it will start retrograde movement in the sign of Libra and will go back into Virgo Sign. Normally, Venus transit into a sign takes about 25 days and hence nothing concrete can be predicted for such a short time, but when it goes retrograde in any sign, then it slows down its pace, moves back & forth and hence takes about 4 to 5 months to cover the sign which it normally covers in 25 days max. Hence, it is considerably longer time and we can predict things/events for this time period. This time also, Venus transit in Libra starts on 2nd Sep, 2026 and it ends at 2nd Jan, 2027. During this time, Venus will turn retrograde in Libra sign and then go back in Virgo sign. Hence, good enough period to predict things and events. 

Venus will start retrograde in Libra on 3rd Oct, 2026 and will turn direct on 13th Nov, 2026 in Virgo. During this time, Venus will go back in Virgo from 6th Nov, 2026 to 22nd Nov, 2026. So, we can say that it is largely a Venus in Libra transit although we will discuss results of Venus retro in Virgo during these 16 days. 

As we go through this article, we will deal in detail as to what other factors can be attached with Venus Retrograde in general and Venus Retrograde in Libra/Virgo in particular. Now, let’s begin to first understand all the important things attached with coming Venus Retrograde. 

Venus - Venus represents Beauty, Desire and Love. Venus is the main significator of Marriage. Venus represents Girlfriend or Wife for a Man. Venus is the significator of all relations, may it be Husband-Wife or Mother-Daughter. Venus is Wealth & Conveniences, Vehicles & Luxuries. Venus is also Service and Devotion, which is where Venus is most pious.

Libra - Libra is the 7th sign of the Zodiac Belt, hence it represents the energy and things related with 7th house of horoscope, i.e. Market Place, Business, Partnerships, Relations etc. Libra is sign of Balance, i.e. striking the Balance between 2 parties/ideologies or even at personal level between our own dilemmas. It is sign of Peace and Diplomacy. And this is what we are seriously looking for after the conflicts and disagreements of Virgo, i.e. Peace to prevail. At personal level, Libra is seen as sign of Relationships. Libra is consisted of 2 and half Nakshatra named Chitra, Swati and Vishakha. Libra's lord is Venus only.

Virgo - Virgo is the 6th sign of the zodiac belt, hence it represents almost all the things which are represented by the 6th house of horoscope like Debts, Diseases, Obstacles, Serving the under-privileged, Service Life, etc. Besides this, Virgo represents analytical or critical skills of people, being perfectionist and healing abilities. Virgo's basic representation is the lady coming in boat with wheat and herbs in her hands. So, Virgo is basically a sign of healing. Virgo consists of 2 and half nakshatra. i.e. Uttara-Phalguni, Hasta and Chitra. Virgo's lord is Mercury.

Venus in Libra – When Venus is in Libra, it is in its own sign. Now, Venus is relationship and Libra is relationship. So, when Venus is in Libra in birth chart, person is all about getting into relationship or maintaining the current relationship. During transit too, person seeks a relationship but there is more here than just only seeking relationship. Libra is also sign of balance. So, person should seek a balanced relation. It should not be a relation in which only one person is doing all the compromises. Venus in Libra is about striking the right balance. Also, Libra is sign of business. So, person can be inclined towards business or they can get good benefits from already running business. 

Venus in Virgo - Venus gets debilitated in Virgo Sign which means it is at its weakest dignity. Let’s see at the reasons behind debilitation of Venus in Virgo. Venus’ main living representation is Relationship. Virgo is 6th sign, hence it has energy of 6th house of conflicts and obstacles. So, when Venus is in Virgo, Venus is not getting proper environment to prosper the relationship factor in person’s life. All Venus finds in Virgo is conflicts/disputes and obstacles. Also, Virgo is sign for perfection. So, Venus in Virgo shows someone who is looking for perfection in relationship life or partner. As there is no perfect relationship or partner in the world, Venus in Virgo person may feel discontent in relationship and may end up in having conflicts and disputes as he sees only drawbacks in relation or partner. Hence, Venus is debilitated in Virgo. 

Virgo has again 2.5 nakshatras within it but Venus gets its deepest debilitation in Chitra Nakshatra. It is because Chitra is again nakshatra of relationship conflicts. If we reflect at mythological story of Chitra, it was the story where Sandhya left the company of Sun due to fire and heat of the Sun and Sun went to Sandhya’s father home to reconcile with her. Here, fire and heat of the Sun is nothing but the ego of a person which spoils the relationship. As I always say, either you can keep your ego or you can keep your relation. You can’t have both. Venus is debilitated at 27 degree as it also gets debilitated in D-9 chart. So, the debilitation energy gets intensified here. 

In a nutshell, Venus debilitated can be extremely good for money matters and conveniences in life as person can become very shrewd with monetary things but same position can be very difficult for relationship matters as love is not a matter of shrewdness. Love needs to be done through heart, and not through shrewdness of mind. This is where, they may feel frustrated in love matters. 

Retrograde Planets – Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn go through retrograde phases. These phases are of different time periods from 21 days to about 4 to 5 months. Retrograde is actually when a planet is closer to Earth and that’s why, while looking from Earth, it looks like planet is moving backwards as it is slower in its speed than Earth. So, retrograde is actually an optical illusion. Planet doesn’t actually move backwards but it only looks like moving backwards. So, 1st thing retrograde time brings is confusion related with the planet that is retrograde. Also, as retrograde planet is closer to Earth, the best way to understand a retrograde planet is to imagine someone just standing right next to you and looking at you. How would you feel? You will definitely be impacted by the energy of that person. The same ways, when a planet goes retrograde and come closer to Earth, its rays are reaching us with great intensity. That’s why; retrograde season when most planets go through retrograde cycle can be the most intense time on Earth. It also means that retrograde planet will almost push/force us to act in matters related to the planet or house/sign where it is retrograde by creating some or the other situations. As retrograde time is about moving backwards though only as an illusion, retrograde motion of a planet also shows that we reflect back on things related to that planet or house/sign where it is retrograde. Basically, during direct motion of planet, planet gives us many indications about things to correct or sort out but if we don’t take any proactive measure then planet is forced to create some events and circumstances during its retrograde motion under which we will be forced to take actions in those matters. So eventually, retrograde cycles are good which force us to take actions which were long overdue. Last but not the least, a person born with retrograde planets also follows the same path where in early life he makes mistakes related with retrograde planet and in later life, he improves or corrects those mistakes. 

Venus Retrograde – Venus retrograde is normally a 40 days long period in which Venus moves backwards or at least it looks like that from Earth. Generally speaking, Venus represents our conveniences in life and when it is retrograde then in its most literal sense, it means that our conveniences are going back. It means that we are supposed to live a life of inconvenience in these 40 days. But as I said, it is most literal meaning. Things are much deeper in Astrology. Retrograde literally means Reverting Back or Reflecting Back. So, whichever planet goes retrograde during transit or even when it is retrograde in Birth Chart, it makes us reflect or think over things related to that planet. As Venus represents Relationship, Wealth and Convenience aspects of life, people also reflect back on their wealth & luxuries but as relationships remain the key aspect of almost everyone’s life, Venus retrograde normally leads to the situations where person reflects back to the fact that if he/she is in right relationship? So, Venus retrograde normally leads to some uneasy situations in relations, either married or not, when couple starts reflecting back as to what is wrong or missing. But it is not all negative all the time. 

Venus retrograde is also the time when Venus will be closer to Earth, hence its rays will be reaching more intensely. Whenever any planet is retrograde, it remains the most prominent time for events related to that planet. As Venus is mainly about relations, this can also be time of getting into new relation if someone is single or an ex-lover can come back in life. At the same time, Venus Retrograde is not considered as an auspicious time to begin a new relationship. 

Another thing is when do we actually reflect or think back over something? When things don’t go as per our wishes or when we feel like we failed. So, Venus retrograde can be a good time to introspect why relations and wealth aspect of our life is not as we wished so? As this time, Venus is retrograde in Libra and then in Virgo, reflecting back on relation will be prominent.

Islam and Christianity has specific events/stories related with these 40 days time period when Muhammed & Jesus respectively went through fasting/penance during this time and then they were Enlightened

Last Venus Retrograde – It is interesting to note that last Venus retrograde was in Pisces, where Venus is exalted ( https://www.astrosaxena.com/articles/DirectandRetrogradeTransitofVenusinPiscesin2025 ). It was between Jan, 2025 to May, 2025 and it was a good time for relationship overall. Expectations were really high in relations due to exalted nature of Venus. So, we can expect this retro also to give us some good results as Venus is retro in own sign. Only thing to remember is striking the balance in relation. Neither be too rigid nor too flexible in relation. Just walk on tight rope of balance.

Venus Retrograde Impacts – Now, we can split the impact of Venus retrograde in following parts – 

As per Karaka – First of all, Venus retrograde will make us reflect back on relation. It can be any relation like between siblings or parent/child too. So, relations are going to be at stake. People will retrospect on how to create a balanced relation or what they can do or what their partner should do to create a balanced relation? So, as I see, focus may not be on compromise in relation but on a balanced relation where both sides accommodate with each other. As Libra is also sign of Business, people can reflect back on their business. They can have a new business idea or they can be more innovative in their existing business. 

Houses – Now, Venus will retrograde in Libra but for every ascendant Venus rules different houses and hence takes shape of planet ruling a different area of life. Like, for Aries Ascendant, Venus rules 2nd house (Taurus) & 7th house (Libra), hence Venus is relation & family related planet for Aries but for Leo Ascendant, Venus rules 3rd house (Libra) and 10th house (Taurus), so it becomes an effort and career related planet for Leo Ascendant. Also, Venus will be in different house in every chart. So, during this Venus retrograde, not only we will reflect on Love, Relationship, Wealth and Luxury but also, to some extent, we will reflect on things related to the houses Venus rules and house where it sits in a chart. We need to keep in mind where Taurus and Libra falls from a certain Ascendant or Moon sign.

Venus’s Aspect – To a lesser extent, Venus will impact Aries/Pisces from Libra/Virgo respectively with its 7th house aspect, it means whichever house Aries/Pisces fall in a chart. I said to a lesser extent as Venus is a gentle planet and hence its aspects are even more gentle. 

Dashas – As always, this retrograde Venus will have more impact on those people who are going through Venus’s MD/AD. But as it is 4 month long transit, everyone should be impacted at some level during this time. 

Retrograde Period – As I said, Venus will enter in the sign of Libra on 2nd Sep, 2026 and it will stay there till 2nd Jan, 2027. During this time, Venus will turn retrograde in Libra sign and then go back in Virgo sign. 

Venus will start retrograde in Libra on 3rd Oct, 2026 and will turn direct on 13th Nov, 2026 in Virgo. During this time, Venus will go back in Virgo from 6th Nov, 2026 to 22nd Nov, 2026. 

Nakshatra – During this transit and retrograde motion, Venus will transit over all 3 nakshatras of Libra, i.e. Chitra, Swati and Vishakha. Hence, it will also be impacted by placements of lords of these Nakshatras, i.e. Mars, Rahu, and Jupiter respectively, in birth chart and in transit. I am repeating that Venus will be impacted by other planets and not vice-versa because Venus and Moon are gentle planets. They get impacted easily. If Venus can impact any planet with real effect then I guess it is Moon-Mercury only. 

Planet in Libra/Virgo – Now, if someone has planet in Libra/Virgo in birth chart then results related to that planet will also be seen during these 4 months as Venus will be going back and forth over that planet. Any time transiting planet going over birth chart planet is indication of concrete events happening. 

Venus Retrograde in Birth Chart – Those who are born with Venus retrograde in their birth chart will get some additional intensity from this retrograde transit but as they have Venus retrograde in birth chart, they are used to see such intensity in Venus related matters in their lives. 

Shadow Period – Venus will start retrograde on Oct 3rd, 2026 at 14 degree Libra and will go back till 28 Degree Virgo on 13th Nov, 2026. Although, the retrograde motion will finish on 13th Nov but Venus will remain in Shadow Period till it again reaches 14 degree of Libra on 15th Dec, 2026. Shadow Period is when the planet is although moving ahead but still gives the results of retrograde motion till it reaches the point from where it started retrograde motion. So, from 3rd Oct onwards till 15th Dec, 2026, either Venus is in retrograde time or shadow period. 

Results of Venus retrograde from Libra to Virgo - We can expect following results in general as Venus goes back from Libra to Virgo - 

 1st thing we need to remember is that Venus is in own sign in Libra. Venus and Libra both represent relationship. Libra is also a sign of balance in relationship. So, with this transit of Venus in Libra, we may be called-upon to take more balanced approach towards relationships in our lives. 

 This transit can be excellent to pursue any creative talent. 

 This transit can also be good for financial matters as Venus is in own sign for about 4 months.

 As much as it looks great to see that Venus is going to retrograde in its own sign and it may be the best time for getting into true love, well yes but it may also be a great time during these 4 months to realize that true love is for no reason and without any expectation. In these 4 months, we are supposed to realize the true meaning of love. To seek it within and not to go without. 

 I know it all sounds very philosophical but it’s the biggest truth. Just to make it more profound, Love in this day and age was quite appropriately described by Osho Rajneesh in one of his preaching on relationship as “Two beggars asking money from each other”. Such is condition in Love matters for majority of us where everyone is asking for love from other person. So yes, it is certainly better to have Venus retrograde in Libra but at the same time we might be called upon to learn its highest lesson, i.e. Love & Happiness without Reason & Boundaries. In one sentence, this Venus retrograde can take us from the base representation of Venus, i.e. Desires & Lust, to the highest representation of Venus, i.e. Service & Devotion. 

 Also, we need to realize and be practical about the fact that selfless love looks good between two equally selfless people. If it is selfless only from one side then rather than selfless, it becomes self-destructive or self-harming love. 

 So, this can be a good transit for finance, creativity, service and devotion but relationship aspect of life can still have its own challenges as relationships are naturally difficult. 

 This challenge in relationship aspect will be very apparent when Venus goes back into Virgo near its debilitation degree. Those about 15+ days of Venus retrograde transit in Virgo can be the most difficult in relationship matters as Venus will be debilitated and retrograde. 

 As always, Jeeva Karaka results will be difficult and Ajeeva Karaka results will be relatively easy to achieve.
