As I am delving more into the minute concepts of Western Astrology, I am realizing how important it is to be receptive towards knowledge from every possible source. After reading about Chiron and Lilith, I got interested further in learning about more Asteroids and somehow landed on Vesta. It was just unbelievable that how accurate and helpful was Vesta, its philosophy and mythology in understanding a special chart of a special person named Natascha McElhone.

Natascha McElhone and her chart - Natascha McElhone (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natascha_McElhone) is working as an Actress. As per the information available online, she was born on 14^th Dec, 1969 at Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, England. She is best known for 1998 movie The Truman Show. I didn’t get her birth time. Hence, we have to do this analysis from her Moon Chart. Her planetary placements are Rahu-Mars-Moon in 1^st house/Aquarius, Saturn in 3^rd house/Aries, Ketu in 7^th house/Leo, Jupiter in 9^th house/Libra, Sun-Venus in 10^th house/Scorpio, Mercury in 11^th house/Sagittarius.

What makes her special? – So, what makes Natascha McElhone special? She got married to Mr Martin Hirigoyen Kelly, a Plastic Surgeon, in 1998. They had 3 sons together. In 2008, Mr Martin Hirigoyen Kelly passed away due to an accident.

After that, Natascha McElhone continued to write letters to her late husband Martin Kelly, about the daily trivia of life and how she and their young children were coping with their loss. These letters and diary entries formed the basis of her book After You: Letters of Love, and Loss, to a Husband and Father. My Initial Understanding of her chart – When I first read about Natascha McElhone, my initial reaction was that she must be having Anuradha Nakshatra very prominent in her chart as it is the nakshatra of loyalty and devotional love. But I didn’t find any planet in Anuradha Nakshatra in her chart. Then there were some other planetary position which shows obsession or clinging towards partner, like Venus in Scorpio, Darakaraka Mars with Rahu-Moon etc. But still, these planetary positions were not convincing enough for me to accept her devotional love towards her late husband.

And this is where one of my good friend introduced me to Asteroid Vesta.

Introduction and Mythology of Vesta – Vesta is the brightest asteroid in the sky as well as one of the largest. She was named after the virgin goddess of the hearth and keeper of the flame from Roman mythology. In astrology, the asteroid Vesta represents that "little light" inside you that makes you special. Vesta's primary energy is devotion, sacrifice, commitment, and service.

Vesta, the virgin goddess of domestic life, the hearth, the home and the protectress of Rome, was Zeus/Jupiter's sister. Vesta was so beautiful that both Apollo and Neptune fought for her hand, but Vesta rejected them both and begged Jupiter to allow her to remain a virgin forever. When Jupiter agreed, Vesta was so pleased that she willingly took care of her brother's hearth and home. Vesta in chart of Natascha McElhone – In the chart of Natascha McElhone, Vesta is in Leo sign. It is 7^th from not only her Moon sign Aquarius but also from Rahu and darakaraka Mars.

a. 7^th from Moon is always a strong house for relationship as Moon or Mind wants to connect with others and get attracted to the people in 7^th house/7^th sign from Moon.

b. 7^th from Darakaraka Mars is even stronger indication towards relationship partner.

c. Moon at the axis of Rahu-Ketu also shows karmic relation between native and partner.

d. Ketu in Leo is very much an indication of Plastic Surgeon as Leo is sign of Beauty and Ketu represents Surgeries.

e. Now, Vesta is with Ketu in 7^th house/Leo from Rahu-Moon-Mars in 1^st house/Aquarius very much depicts her life as per mythological story of Vesta. In mythology, Vesta decided not to get married and look after the domenstic and home related matters. This is very much what Natascha did. Remember that she was only 38 when her husband passed away, she is a celebrity and she belongs to a society where finding another partner after losing one is a normal routine of life. She doesn’t belong to any crazy society where being a Divorcee or Widow is seen as a stigma or where finding a new partner after having kids is a big issue.

f. All I want to say that she was not forced to live this life which she had chosen to live. She could have easily got remarried and have a new life altogether but she decided to devote herself to her late husband and her kids. Most importantly, she did it out of her own will and happiness, none forced her to live like this. This is very much what Vesta did in mythology where she decided to remain unmarried to look after the home and domestic matters. Hence, we can see Vesta working here quite perfectly.

g. One can say that in mythology, Vesta didn’t even marry first time whereas Natascha McElhone married once. Well, that’s where I say that everything is in addition. If Vesta is there in her chart then there are other equally strong and important planets in her chart which will give their results at different times. In the end, what we receive is accumulated result of all our planetary placements.
