Impact of ChatGPT/AI on Blogging
Recently, a few people asked me regarding the innovations of Artificial Intelligence, especially ChatGPT Chatbot. Their queries were more about the impact ChatGPT-like platforms are going to have on Blogging related work.
On surface, it looks like a valid concern because as per my understanding, ChatGPT can give articles and blogs on a particular topic on demand. Like, if I can simply ask ChatGPT about how Moon in Taurus sign behaves and if ChatGPT can supply the answer then and there only then why would I go into any astrological site or blog or YouTube Channel to understand the same. I am giving most generic example here which we all can understand.
As I have Ketu in Aquarius which makes me very reluctant to opt for new age technology and new inventions unless it becomes unavoidable, I tried to first learn about ChatGPT and AI. This is what I found on its Wiki page –
“ChatGPT is an artificial-intelligence (AI) chatbot developed by OpenAI and launched in November 2022…… Although the core function of a chatbot is to mimic a human conversationalist, ChatGPT is versatile. For example, it can write and debug computer programs; mimic the style of celebrity CEOs and write business pitches; compose music, teleplays, fairy tales, and student essays; answer test questions (sometimes, depending on the test, at a level above the average human test-taker); write poetry and song lyrics; emulate a Linux system; simulate an entire chat room; play games like tic-tac-toe; and simulate an ATM.”
After reading this, it seems ChatGPT can take-over all writing work in online world.
Then I tried to have some practical experience of ChatGPT and hence, I created a login for myself and entered there. Then I started with my questions with Chatbot –
1. My Question - What is Astrology?
ChatGPT Response – “Astrology is a pseudoscientific belief system that suggests there is a correlation between the positions of celestial bodies and events and personalities in human affairs……..”
2. My question - What were sidereal planetary positions on 23rd Feb 1996 at 6 pm Lucknow?
ChatGPT Response – “Using an astrology software, I found that the sidereal planetary positions for Lucknow, India at 6 pm on February 23rd, 1996 were as follows:
Sun: 10 degrees 21 minutes Aquarius, Moon: 20 degrees 22 minutes Taurus, Mercury: 24 degrees 29 minutes Aquarius , Venus: 23 degrees 17 minutes Capricorn , Mars: 22 degrees 33 minutes Pisces, Jupiter: 23 degrees 50 minutes Sagittarius , Saturn: 20 degrees 26 minutes Aries , Uranus: 6 degrees 10 minutes Aquarius , Neptune: 28 degrees 08 minutes Capricorn , Pluto: 4 degrees 58 minutes Sagittarius , Rahu (North Node): 1 degrees 11 minutes Gemini , Ketu (South Node): 1 degrees 11 minutes Sagittarius
Please note that these positions are based on the sidereal zodiac, which is different from the tropical zodiac used in Western astrology”.
My Suggestion - It seems Saturn was in Pisces on 23rd Feb 1996. (please note that I suggested only about Saturn but if we check then except Jupiter and Sun, all planetary positions given by Chatbot was wrong)
ChatGPT Response – “I apologize for the mistake in my previous response. You are correct that Saturn was not in Aries on February 23rd, 1996, but rather in Pisces.

My Further Suggestion - It seems Saturn was at 0 degree in Pisces on 23rd Feb 1996. ((Again, I suggested only about Saturn but if we check then degrees of majority of planetary positions given by Chatbot was wrong)
ChatGPT Response – “I apologize for the confusion. You are correct that Saturn was at 0 degrees Pisces on February 23rd, 1996.

Although I tried only a few questions/suggestions and only in one stream of knowledge; i.e. Astrology, but we can see that how reliable are the responses!!!!
At this moment, I can only say that it is a great invention but it requires lots of improvement to even come closer to compete with human efforts or human intelligence. I think it is aptly called Artificial Intelligence as it may never replace Real Human Intelligence.
I again say that it is a great invention and can be used for blogging/writing and knowledge sharing in future but right now, it can’t be relied blindly. You have to have a human intelligence doing a quality check of the information given by AI.
There is no way that a kid can ask for an Essay on Global Warming and can simply copy/paste it to complete his assignment. Anyways, I won’t be in favor of any such process or technique as that kid won’t learn anything from doing it. So, this should never be the purpose of AI.
Overall, I don’t see any reason why bloggers and writers like me should be worried about ChatGPT or alike AI tools. With more development and advancement, they can become useful for us only.
Then why this fear against AI tools among bloggers?
As always, Fear is because it is new invention and an unknown territory. Human Mind is happy in comfort zone and doesn’t want to come out of it. Any new invention or innovation brings this fear of unknown to the mind and we feel hesitant towards it. If we just reflect back then we will realize that whenever a new technology or tool was developed, initially we were reluctant to use it. I remember that in early 2000s, in India people demanded ban of YouTube too. But with time, we realized the powerful impact YouTube can have on our lives. I am sure that with time, we will realize that ChatGPT and other AI tools are to serve us better than to hamper our growth. It is just a matter of some time and development in AI.
Last but not the least, please keep in mind always that a creation can never be bigger than its creator. A tool which is developed through human intelligence can never replace human intelligence in the name of AI. It can be a good help to improvise human efforts but can’t replace human efforts.
Conclusion – Obviously, I am no expert in any field, neither in AI, nor in blogging, not even in Astrology. May be the example I took to test ChatGPT is a very stupid or childish one. But this is what I feel after exploring it so far, that it needs a lot of improvement to even come closer to human intelligence and in no way it can replace human intelligence. People who have better expertise in this matter (AI or ChatGPT) can guide us further through comments.
Hope this helps. Thanks,
