A trick to use Jamini Karakas

As I was going through recent series of articles on Planets as Jaimini Karakas (https://www.astrosaxena.com/articles/jaimini_karakas), I got an idea that these Jaimini Karakas can be very helpful to get some guidance in situations where we find ourselves dumbfounded.

Also, the trick I am going to discuss here can be more helpful for those people who are at advanced stage of learning or practicing astrology. Beginners may avoid this trick unless and until they themselves feel ready for it.


Birth Details - One of the main issues we face in making astrological predictions is when a person is unaware of his correct birth details. As many people/cultures/societies are unaware of importance of astrology and correct birth details. Even if people are aware of their date and place of birth then also it is very common to see people not having their correct birth time. Many a times, people are not even aware of the fact that they were born in Morning or Evening time.


I am well aware that there is a process of Birth Time Rectification (BTR) (https://www.astrosaxena.com/articles/btrjobs and https://www.astrosaxena.com/articles/btr) which can help us in finding the right time of birth but there are following issues with that -


a. Lengthy and time consuming processes.

b. It may cost the client a lot monetarily because not only client has to pay for BTR but then he would surely need some consultation related with issues in his life. So, double expenditure for him.

c. Also, we may never reach up to the exact time of birth.


Resolution - So now, we have a problem and every problem has some resolution to it.


So, what I feel that rather than relying-on the BTR process, we can very well utilize Jaimini Karakas of the person as per date and place of the chart and we can try to predict his chart accordingly. As we know, Jaimini Karakas can help us in predictions in following manner -


Karaka - Jaimini Astrology comes up with the concept of planets as karaka/significator of a particular area of life. These karakas are decided as per the degrees of planets. One thing to remember is that Rahu/Ketu are not used as a karaka regardless of their degrees. So, Jaimini Astrology gives following 7 karakas for 7 main areas of life – 


1. Atma Karaka – It is planet with the highest degree. It is known as Atma Karaka or Soul Significator. This planet and its position in chart will indicate towards your destination in life or life purpose, where you are supposed to reach through this life journey. 


2. Amatya Karaka - It is planet with the 2nd highest degree. It is known as Amatya Karaka or support to Soul Significator. Amatya means Minister, who helps the King (Atma Karaka). So, this planet and its position in chart will indicate towards things which will help you in finding your destination or life purpose. So, it is a drive up to destination. Amatya Karaka normally helps us in finding the right life path. 


3. Bhratru Karaka - It is planet with the 3rd highest degree. It is known as Bhratru Karaka or Significator of Siblings. This planet and its position in chart will indicate towards your relations with your siblings. 


4. Matru Karaka - It is planet with the 4th highest degree. It is known as Matru Karaka or Significator of Mother. This planet and its position in chart will indicate towards your relation with your Mother. It can also be seen for things like Property and Vehicles as Mother, Property and Vehicles all relate to 4th house. 


5. Putra Karaka - It is planet with the 5th highest degree. It is known as Putra Karaka or Significator of Child. This planet and its position in chart will indicate towards your relation with your Children and their life. 


6. Ghatni Karaka - It is planet with the 6th highest degree. It is known as Ghatni Karaka or Significator of Obstacles. This planet and its position in chart will indicate towards kind of obstacles and disputes coming into your life. 


7. Dara Karaka - It is planet with the 7th highest degree. It is known as Dara Karaka or Significator of Spouse. This planet and its position in chart will indicate towards your Spouse and relation with your Spouse. 


Jagannath Hora Software gives another karaka as Pitru Karaka and includes Rahu in consideration of karakas. As I understand, logic here is that if there is a Matru Karaka and Putra Karaka then there has to be a Pitru Karaka. How can there be a Child and Mother but not Father?


But Osho says that the word Mother is more ancient than Father. It means that there was a society or human inhabitation where Mother was there but Father was not there.


Hence, I am willing to follow the traditional 7 karakas only as stated above. 


So if we see, we can utilize these karakas for a native and predict the relavant event as per the karaka if we are not aware of right time of birth.


Problematic Part - The only problematic part in applying this trick into practice is when person is totally unaware of his time of birth throughout the day because in that situation, a planet can easily change its zodiac sign during the day and that may change Jaimini Karaka scheme as per degrees.


For example - Venus can be at 29.50 degree in Pisces in Morning time which may make Venus as Atma Karaka for native but Venus may enter in Aries sign by evening and it can become Darakaraka at 0.01 degree. Not only this but change of this nature for one planet will change the Jaimini Karaka role for all other planets too accordingly.


Same thing can happen with other planetary positions as they can also change their degrees. Most care is needed for Moon’s degree as it can change most frequently.


This is why I said that this trick can be utilized only when person utilizing the trick is at advanced stage of learning/practicing astrology and can keep track of changing degrees of planets during the time range given or during the day (if no time range is given).


If you are not comfortable with this then follow the usual way of BTR and then predict.


Last but not the least, if we are using Jaimini Karakas for predictions then use other concepts of Jaimini Astrology like Jaimini Raj Yogas and Chara Dashas etc.
